The Wandering Feet & Mind (TWF&M) is Sonyboy V. Fugaban. He is a proud Filipino, an accidental stenographer, a student, a self-proclaimed wanderer/traveler and nonprofessional photgrapher, a health buff, an educator, a parent, a blabbermouth, and a struggling servant of the Earth.
TWF&M appreciates and respects the Aura up in the sky, bodies of water, mountains, stars, and organisms from kingdoms animalia and plantae.
He gave rise to this blog to share the stories of his wandering feet and mind—which will give air to the the many hats he wear—and photos that will particularly promote the pulchritude of his country. That is, to let people around the world that it’s more fun in the Philippines. However it may be, he is not closing his door for that opportunity to land to other countries too and feature the same here.
Also, to sharpen his communication skills. When he set foot in the academe as an instructor in a university, he had noticed the importance of communication skills that he needed to optimize it. A huge THANKS to WordPress for giving him the excellent place to do that. He did not have formal lessons in writing so he is trying to learn it by simply putting down his stories under the sun–primarily about travel experiences in the northern and southern parts of the biggest island in the Philippines, Luzon, and occasionally to other stuff like environmentalism, parenting, and teaching experiences. Those may also come in the form of notes or just simple commentaries at times. He believes that doing so helps him develop better writing habits, improve his health, and embrace his idiolect and usageaster more–to become an effective communicator. The more his feet and mind wanders, the more he writes, the more he contributes to his country’s tourism, the more he can articulate the universal language, and the more he learns about life.
Travel Quotes That Fueled The Wandering Feet & Mind To Explore Outdoors And Share The Stories
1. “The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page” St. Augustine.
2. “Wandering re-establishes the original harmony which once existed between man and the universe” Anatole France.
3. “What you’ve done becomes the judge of what you’re going to do–especially in other people’s minds. When you’re traveling, you are what you are right there and then. People don’t have your past to hold against you. No yesterdays on the road” William Least Heat Moon, Blue Highways.
4. “One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things” Henry Miller.
5. “Adventure is a path. Real adventure–self-determined, self-motivated, often risky–forces you to have firsthand encounters with the world. The world the way it is, not the way you imagine it. Your body will collide with the earth and you will bear witness. In this way you will be compelled to grapple with the limitless kindness and bottomless cruelty of humankind—and perhaps realize that you yourself are capable of both. This will change you. Nothing will ever again be black-and-white” Mark Jenkins.

Hi Sony!
Nice blog! I’m really happy to meet a fellow traveler/blogger online. And I like your reason for creating this blog. I agree that communication skills are indeed very important. “Practice makes perfect” so I believe that through blogging we can enormously improve our writing skills. Moreover, we can freely express ourselves and inspire other people to travel as well.
I really love the travel quotes that you posted especially the fourth one. It’s true that the beauty of each place we visit does not rely on how famous or grand the place is but on how we see and appreciate the place.
Keep on traveling and sharing your stories! Take care!
I will, Ma’am, and salamat for sharing your thoughts on this very page! It means a lot to me since you’re the first commenter
Salamat din for making me travel outside the country through your blog. Your pictures make me feel like I’m so with you during those travels of yours.
p.s.
I couldn’t agree more with your commentary on quote number 4.
http://mylovelylife88.wordpress.com/about/
Heya! Sony. I’m sorry if it took me long to get back on you. The class have already started so my free-time is being restricted. But I’ll read and comment in your posts, the next time I have the time. Don’t worry I’m already subscribed :]
Keep it up and I’m glad to see a Filipino Blogger. XD
Your response is more than enough. I think I should be the one who needs to drop by your site every now and then.
I admire your articulate tongue, Ben. At your age, you really can speak well. I have never met someone your age in the blogosphere who is as articulate as you. You’re one lucky lad. Keep it up.
By the way, I didn’t know you’re Filipino until I saw that post about your school’s Fiesta Day. I thought your were Malaysian or Indonesian the first time I visited your “about me”.
Maraming salamat, Ben!

Hi Sony,
Not sure if I posted a comment here already. But thanks for sharing you stories of adventures in mountains. I’d want to climb mountains seriously in the future. Actually, I want to do a lot of things. I’m not closing possibilities but hopefully in the near future, when I have more time. I’ll be able to go on these excursions to explore nature more often.
Keep on blogging. You have very interesting stories in the mountains! Great quotes to inspire one’s soul to get out and travel more often! Let’s keep on sharing our adventures!
The Great Ed is here … What can I say? …
H’m. Regarding your plan to climb the mountains soon, you have all my support by assuring you that it’s gonna be another great endeavor for a natural daredevil like you. That’s really something to look forward to and I must say, “I so can’t wait.”
Maraming salamat for giving me a portion of your time, Sir Ed! Let’s push on sharing our stories.
Hi Sony, thanks for stumbling upon my site. So your wandering mind leads you to my blog thru the title “The Terraces” (sorry to mislead you there).
Have a good day!
By the way, nice blog…
Well, it did. But I’m glad because you gave me another bright idea for my blogs “in the works” – on how to attract the reader’s eyes.
I’m looking forward to more blog posts on your site.
You are welcome and thank you too for visiting this site!
cool.. i replied to your comment on my blog and posted a link there to some of the mountains here in cebu that you might want to trail with…
The pleasure is mine, arVee.
Nice to meet you. Your posts are very beautiful and great.I also like visiting various places which I don’t know yet.I’m looking forward to reading your blog. Thank you for your continued help!
I sent you facebook’s friend request.
Pleased to meet you too! I have just accepted your friend request before logging in to wordpress. Looking back the first time I got to visit your blog, what captivated me was you’re laid-back yet ironically revolutionary way of delivering your thoughts which is just captivating for me. Your stories also makes me more hooked on blogging.
More power to our blogs
Thanks a lot for the compliment and regards to your beautiful family.
I was a college student. I did very well. I am 36 now. I love archeology, Mythology and anthropology. I used to enjoy reading and writing quite a bit too.
I also like a lot of things although I’m not really into reading. Watching is more than enough for me I think. Well, let’s keep sharing our part to the world through our unique stories. I’m glad I learned something about you, Ms. Jessica. See you around …
Hi, bro! The thing I did to have a badge like that is first make a fan page of your blog like that of mine “Blithe and untroubled life” page. Magagawa mo yun pag nag-sign up ka sa ibababa ng fb page bago ka mag-log in. Meron dung create a fan page. The same email account sa fb mo. Then pag natapos mo na punta ka na sa fb page mo mismo log in ka then punta ka account setting, switch fb page. Pipiliin mo yung fan page na ginawa mo. Edit it, fill out the needed info about sa blog mo. Pagkatapos, copy the url of it then open mo wordpress mo tska choose the widget fb like box and ilagay/drag mo sa sidebar mo. Meron dun title and fb page url tapos fill up mo yun and click mo ng check yung box na maliit na may “show faces” at “show stream”. Then save. Ganun lang. The like box only works with facebook pages only. Hindi pwede yung fb mismo natin. Gets ba bro?
Oo, bro. Kuha ko na. Salamat sa detalyado mong sagot!
I am very fortunate that I discovered your blog. I love the connection that you share with nature. Your blog is beautiful and inspiring. I look forward to sharing your exciting journeys via blogging. Many blessings to you and your family.
I am equally fortunate for having you around, Donna. After reading at least two of your articles, I was well acquainted with how cool and purposeful your blog is. I have never met a blogger who’s as passionate as you as far as rights of the animals are concerned. Kudos to you on that!
Thank you for mentioning my family and for the kind words … with purpose!
You picked nice quotes, Sony! I myself also like some travel-related quotes. One of them is:
“Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path, and leave a trail”
- Ralph Wado Emerson -
It’s like sayin’: “Two roads diverged in a wood, and — I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.” (Robert Frost, The Road Not Taken) That’s definitely apt for travelers.
Going back to your comment, I now understand when you introduced the list of countries you’ve visited on your “About Bama”, you made the that part more catchy for me by sayin’, “So far, these are the countries where I have set my footprints (13 countries) … You leave a trail by setting footprints!
Thank you for sharing that quote with me!
Jaga diri dan semoga beruntung.
Yeah that’s pretty much how I want it sound like. So, instead of saying “these are the countries that I have visited”, I used “these are the countries where I have set my footprints”
By the way, do you happen to know some Bahasa Indonesia words? because my Tagalog is super crappy, haha. I only know salamat pok (I’m not sure how to write it, but it sounds like that). Oh wait, I still remember sanlibong and limandaang!
That’s natural for someone who has the gift of gab.
Anyway, I actually “googled” the Bahasa words included on my reply. With regard the Tagalog words you have there, they’re all correct except for some excess letter/s. There’s no need to put k in the word po. It should just be po which means a polite form, usually addressed to older people, of “you”. Sanlibong should also be just sanlibo (an accepted Tagalog word which is actually an informal version/contraction of isang libo which means one thousand). Limandaang is perfect if you are to use it as an adjectival form since that’s the adjectival form of the word limang daan which means five hundred (500). However, if you are just referring to the word five hundred, it should be limang daan – two words.
I’m really glad that you know some words in our language.
Terima kasih banyak, Bama!
Thanks for the information, Sony!
Actually I only learned a few words when I visited Manila, and the ones that I still remember the most are printed on the thing that I carried everyday in Manila…yes, it’s the Peso (but it’s written as Piso, right?).
Isang magandang araw!
Selamat siang, Bama! I’m really enjoying the bits of Bahasa words I am learning because of you.
And, I commend you for your perfect Tagalog sentence there and the piso. Piso is the exact Tagalog translation of Peso.
Sony, you’re one of the coolest bloggers and persons around. How you fit to write awesome post on top of your busy schedule is beyond me. But it looks like you have a gift to write, capture images and live a life of adventure. I kind of smile when I read ” blabbermouth.” My wife tells me that I talk a lot too although I think my son beats me to it. I’m glad I followed your blog’s journey. I saw a dad’s perspective in a different light and a fellow blogger who has so much to offer to the world. My friend, God bless you and your family always.
That’s a heartwarming compliment, Bro. Salamat diyan.
Again and again, like you, my son at the age of almost three ( 3 more weeks to go) now produces perhaps a million words already. I had to cover his mouth at times and tell him, jokingly, to stop talking. But on the contrary I so love him doing that. I remember how I used to pray that he be not mute and the Aura up there made him like a walking tongue. I hope he’d be able utilize it in due time. I was the opposite of him when I was young according to my mother. I was so shy and don’t talk much at that age. So that’s definitely my wife’s.
I enjoyed the conversation as much as you do, Bro. And like I always say, I found great comfort from that. Thank you for offering your life’s journey too!

That’s not asking too much, right? HAHA God bless!
I just did, Judy. The thing is, I don’t look at at it that way if the person asking the favor is as brilliant as you. I must say, “it’s your right.”
I am delighted for having you here, Judy! See you around.
Sir, mahal na mahal ko rin po ang Pilipinas! Have you heard of this line from our tourism ad campaign (during the time of GMA)? “And if we like to over do things here in the Philippines just imagine what it’s like, to be our guest!” It gives me chills.
Oh yes! I heard that line actually just last night in Jessica Soho’s State of the Nation. I just thought that could give a harder “kick” for my statement there. I agree it gives chills — obviously!
WOW! I think it’s our best tourism ad so far! The next one would be the series of “More Than The Usual” ads – conceived under Dick Gordon. Very effective even without a narrator!
Yes, I’ve seen that too. Talking about effective communication here.
You take come great pics… Hope to make it back to the country of my birth…
I’m glad to meet another great Filipino Blogger in your being. Thank you for stopping by!
Happy New Year Sony boy. All the best in 2012!
Happy New Year, aRVee!

Ms. Connie, thank you so very much!
Thank You so much Sony for taking a keen look at my blog.
I should say, “The pleasure is all mine, Rom, and I meant that!”
Hello Song,
I’m so glad to have meet you thru WordPress. I feel at home when outdoors, but for now I have to be content where I am…I’m figuring out still on what I must do in raising my kids. Seeing your wandering feet go places I’d dare to go too, just for the pure joy of adventure, makes me so jealous of you! Thank you, that thru your writings, somehow, I can still be there where I really want to be. Cheers!
It’ll a pleasure for me to bridge the gap between the Philippines and to wherever you are now, Jen. Don’t be jealous but I’m ok with it if you can’t help feeling that way. Hehe … I was joking, of course. You have your inspiring stories to complement for that anyway. Let’s keep sharing them here to inspire more people. CHEERS!
Sorry for mispelling your name Sonyboy*
No problem, Jen.
Thank you for all the comments! You made me laugh : )
You are one hell of a character! nice to meet you.

You are welcome! I’d like you to know that meeting is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Thanks for showing such humility considering you are ________________. I know…
Thanks for liking one of my post! You have a great blog here especially articles on your country! I would love to visit it one day in fact its on my list!
You made me jump for joy because of what you just said (or wrote?). That’s exactly what I wanted to do for the countless opportunities and blessings my country has given me. To promote him and be appreciated amid its fair share of not-so good news. Believe me when I say you will not regret setting foot here if ever. Thank you so much!
Hi Sony! Love your Blog!!! Thanks…. Ou Yeah, you can see the types/styles of free T-Shirts we would like to send you at: http://iamfil.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=68

By the way, I have seen the the styles of the T-Shirts and I definitely love that 3 Stars and the Sun. She’s pretty attractive to me. I mean, the T-Shirt.
So, what am I gonna do next to avail that once in a life opportunity?
Greetings Sony …
It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I “Thank You” for coming to my blog.
I appreciate all visits. It’s nice to know that other blogger enjoy what you do. You certainly
have a very interesting blog here. I will be back many times now that I have subscribed
to catch up on your adventures. Your quotes above are fantastic. This one by Henry Miller – One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things – says it all/ This is a new destination for me to see things in a new way.
Since we are still in the beginning of 2012 let me say Happy New Year and much success.
Isadora
http://insidethemindofisadora.wordpress.com/2011/12/31/a-toast-for-the-new-year/
That is heartwarming, ISADORA. I wish you could see my lips as I pronounce your name.
Thank you is not enough for your comment. I am still reading some of your post at moment because, like you, each blogger has a unique voice which can help people see things in a new way. I believe that.
Right now, I am savoring the overpowering joy you have just injected me.
Looks like I can agree to all the things you said here, your intentions, why you are writing a blog and what you would like to achieve with it. The adventures outsides are abundant and we just have to save the right moments, that’s what wordpress is for =D Keep it up, and thanks for your wisdoms!!!
Thank you more for sharing your wisdom too! I have read about what you do through your blog and I can say that you are one of the many people who do real efforts at saving the collapsing ecosystem. Scientists like you are worthy of the word KUDOS — for all your invaluable contributions to help save the degrading environment.
I am one with you on that in my simple and small ways.
PS
Thank you also, for reminding me that adventures outside are abundant! They are always there to wait for us, at the right time.
I love reading but writing still frightens me, I guess that is why I cannot make lots of blog like you. Many times I’m not grammatically correct, I sometimes ask my 8th grader if what I wrote is correct so I like to say kudos to you. I read your blog “when the heat is on….” It reminds me of the older days in the Philippines, lots of luscious fruits (and kakanin) which become more delicious when eaten with friends and loved ones near you at the beach. I travelled to many places too like Bahamas, Tokyo, Europe and places of North America but I’m not spontaneous when it comes to writing about my travel like you do. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experience, your humbleness also shows nobility of your character. Keep up the good work. God love us all.
I must admit that it takes a couple of days for me to finalize one blog post. And hours of proofreading and rephrasing and checking again and again. So, I couldn’t help rejoicing when you thought of me as an spontaneous writer. I wish I could. But, seriously, I am so glad that found me that way. It made me shout for joy.
On the other side of the coin, I don’t really think you have problem/s with writing. I have read all of your posts and I didn’t see an inch of difficulty. You are the one who is spontaneous. Believe me. You have all the reason to write so please continue writing; continue sharing your stories because you will never know whom you will inspire.
Hi Sony,
I’m glad I came across your blog.
Fantastic site with very interesting stories and photos.

What an honor! I am so humbled.
Thank you very much, Shofar!
