I was driving around Exit 5 for some personal errands after work earlier when I noticed the tempting view of the yellowish, orangy sky plus the intriguing cloud figure of a phoenix rising not too far from where I was positioned.
The next thing I knew I was chasing it and stopped at different corners just to photograph that momentary wonder of the sky.
I took a few shots, of course, and then proceeded to the bookstore.
When I was nearing the parking lot, I got absolutely captivated again by the dominance of those invigorating colors creeping everywhere. The view of the sunset became all the more stunning at that point. I parked at that special spot and framed this sunset view. It is where I settled in for a moment, comfortably sat watching the rays give ephemeral beauty to the mundane up to a time they dissolved into thin air. Then I smiled. I knew right then and there that no matter what, there’s always a reason to be happy.
Today, I was once again reminded that no matter how complicated and busy the day is, there is a need to notice the beautiful and bright things the world offers, and SMILE. They are everywhere and they come in different forms.
For me, it is watching the sun’s descent most of the time. But every now and then, walking around the green park near the apartment, listening to Post Malone’s “Sunflower”, going to the gym, cooking a meal, or doing my laundry brings the same vibe, the same smile.
