Thank you for sharing the photos of Abra, Sony! It was really nice to revisit Abra once again! We rode with a pastor friend from Binalonan to Bangued in Dec. 2008, did some mission work there, visited and prayed with Gov. Takit Bersaimin in the Provincial Capitol, and I gave a whole bunch of kids firecrackers (the kind you pop on the ground) in the Town Plaza. ~Liz

Bersaimin is, of course, a popular name there. I’ve heard stuff about him from politicians and lawyers.

Anyway, I’m so glad you and your team are extending a helping hand to our less fortunate siblings in various parts of the country. That is just exemplary. I would love to do that again too one day.

Liz, sorry for thr delay in replying.

Aloha, Sony! Me again writing a second comment here about St. Philomena Church. Here in Honolulu, Hawaii we have a St. Philomena Church. In 1978 I was co-founder with the parish priest and started the first all-day Montessori child center with a hot lunch program on the premises of the St. Philomena Church. I helped to design and build the school, hire and train staff and educate 120 preschool and kindergarten children back then. Today it is still operating in expanded facilities with a higher enrollment. You can also google and see a St. Philomena Church on the island of Molokai where Father Damien de Veuster lived out his life serving lepers. When I was a young teacher I hiked the Kalaupapa trail with the priest of St. Joseph School and several other teachers. It was 3 miles and 26 switchbacks, a glorious, but killer trail down to the leper settlement and back up! ~Liz

What an experience, Liz! 3 miles is something. Didn’t even come close to that distance when I was in the mountaineering world. Adding to the dig the altruism embedded in the endeavour makes me cringe with what I did for our constituents back then. You just so inspired me with that story, Liz. Thank you for making me realize that there’s more to life than what I know.

Your, I may say, advocy is larger than life. I will do what I can to turn the inspiration I now have to action one day.
